We are pleased to announce the general availability of the printed book. Amazon.com ($21.99) now has the book in stock. Malmø Popular eGovernment Conference

Now that the book is out, we are ready to do a little promotion. First stop was the Popular eGovernment Conference in Malmø on Friday. Set up as an alternative to the main conference, it was an informal gathering of eGovernment grassroots.
John and I had a interesting couple of hours discussing different subjects with the other attendees and we got to pass out the first batch of physical copies of the book. Check out the Ideal Government website for several blogposts with details of what went on.

Book Availability

When we in the summer launched this project, today was a rather firm launch date (#egov2009). So it was very satisfactory, at midnight, to launch the digital version. Download the PDF here or here (1,1MB).

But the book is indeed also a ‘real’ book. It will be published by Authorhouse soon, and be available via Amazon etc later this year. Until its general availability, we locally produce release versions of the paperback, and will be able to start shipping out books to near and far within days.

We sincerely think the book is important — a much-needed energy infusion to the more-important-than-ever debate about the future of government. This, the importance, is why we will make the book’s content (over 75,000 words) available for free and via multiple channels.

The 18th November is the day we have chosen as the launch date. Why this date? This is why. Well, actually all the events in Malmö around the minister meeting, where the book’s contributors are well represented, including this (Kim Normann Andensen speaks there). And of course because on 19th November, Don Tapscott keynotes at #egov2009 and will announce the book. Also, on 20th November, David Osimo speaks in the parallel session about “A vision for eGovernment in 2020″ at #egov2009, and Christian Bering and I will attend #malmo09.

The book will be released in various formats and channels. Some of the channels are available sooner than others – the free, online book is available here at 21gov.net from 18 November, while other channels, such as Amazon, are ‘coming soon’. While we are waiting for general availability of the book via Amazon etc, our local print partner produces a special release version that we will start distributing this week. The first batches will be be available on location in Malmö, but we will also be able to start shipping out copies with the Royal Danish Mail very soon.

State of the eUnion
